I was soooo envious of Kurt Russell when I saw that movie…not only did he get to ride the ostrich, he had the world greatest tree house. Imagine my delight when, upon my first visti to Disneyland at the advanced age of 22, I rounded a corner and there it was! Gave serious thought to abandoning future spouse and hiding out on the top level under the bamboo skylight until the park was closed for the night. Sigh…..

Salary caps or not, sports are about as meritocratic as it gets. They’re purely about results: every contest has a winner and loser. Believing that it’s okay to have differing outcomes, as opposed to engineering things so that everything winds up the same, is very much a conservative notion.

Can’t fathom why so many media types are making such a big deal over Sarah Palin. She is just a fantastic leader and our country should be grateful she is on the scene.
